There are plenty of reasons why you might want to watch a YouTube video with someone else. Maybe you’re trying to long-distance bond with a friend or family member, or maybe you want to share a funny cat video with a coworker. Whatever the reason, there’s an easy way to do it without everyone having to be in the same room. Here’s how.

Step 1: Choose a video platform

The first step is to choose a video platform that will allow you to watch youtube together There are plenty of options out there, but we recommend using Zoom, Google Hangouts, or Skype. All three platforms are free to use and easy to set up. Simply create an account and download the app onto your computer or phone.

Step 2: Set up a call

Once you have chosen your platform, it’s time to set up a call. If you’re using Zoom, Google Hangouts, or Skype, this is simply a matter of opening the app and entering the other person’s username or email address. Once they accept your request, you’ll be connected and able to see and hear each other.

If you’re using Zoom, you’ll also need to create a “room” for the call. To do this, click on the “New Meeting” button and then choose whether you want the meeting to be with just one other person or with multiple people. Once you’ve decided, click on the “Invite” button and copy the link that appears. Send this link to whoever you want to join the call so they can click on it and join the room.

Step 3: Share your screen

Once you’re on the call, it’s time to share your screen so everyone can see the YouTube video. On Zoom, hover over the “Share Screen” icon at the bottom of the window and then click on “Share Computer Sound.” This will allow everyone on the call to hear any audio coming from your computer—including any YouTube videos you might be watching.

Then, go to YouTube and find the video you want to watch together. Start playing it and then go back to Zoom and click on “Share Screen.” Choose whether you want to share your entire screen or just a specific window (like your web browser) and then click “Share.” The video should now be playing for everyone on the call!

If you’re using Google Hangouts or Skype, simply go into YouTube and find the video you want to watch together. Start playing it and then click on either “Share Screen” (Google Hangouts) or “Share Content” (Skype). This will allow everyone on the call to see what’s playing on your screen—including any YouTube videos!

And that’s all there is to it! Now you can watch YouTube videos together without everyone having to be in the same room. Just choose a platform, set up a call, share your screen, and enjoy!
